Hi there. Well, seeing that I was bragging about the warm weather in my previous letter, I feel it is just right to let you know that we have been having some cooler days.Thank the Lord for His mercy! To give you some idea of what the challenge of the work here is. I would like to tell you about "Mary". (The names of people and places have been changed to protect the innocent.) I just had to add that part!I met Mary while doing the home visits rounds with Serioga, who suggested that we should visit - Mary. When you visit someone the custom here is that you stand at the gate and call out that persons name. Well, we stood at her gate, called her, and waited. After a while I decided that she is not coming out and we could maar go home. She then eventually stuck here head out the door, and called us in. She couldn't come out to meet us, because she was unable to stand on her own two feet. We thought of just helping her to a bed and then ducking out of there, but we were in for an surprise. She started telling us her life's story. She is married (to one man) and has three boys. Two of her boys are working in Russia with the youngest boy still in Plavni, but he stays away from home, whenever possible. Later I realized that the two boys are not in Russia to work and bring money home. Instead they have fled there! While they worked here, their father would take all their money and put it into the bank, denying them any access to it. The youngest one, would be out all hours of the night, just to avoid his parents. Mary is desperately lonely, and has tried to drink her sorrows away. When her husband sees her drunk he beats her. Not that he has no problem with the bottle himself! They are stuck in a viscous cycle of rejection, anger, hurt, revenge andwhat ever you can think of! They aren't the poorest of people in Plavni either...They have three houses (one for each boy), a horse, sheep and all kinds of things they think can buy their childerens’ love. Stjoppas story isn't much different. He too was married and when his wife started messing around with another man, he started to drink, or when he started to drink she started to mess around... (which came first, the chicken or the egg?) Well, now he wants to see his daughter. This is not allowed, because he drinks, and you guessed it! If they say "no" he gets so angry that he goes out and drinks himself simple for a couple weeks! Drink is a big problem here!!!We need lots of prayer!!! Stjoppa has been clean for some time now, but it is only the grace of God, and your prayers that keeps him clean! Also pray that the Lord will show us how to approach this problem, and how to break these cycles! Thanks for the prayers for transport!!! Yep, you guessed it! I have an old "Oowazick" That is like a jeep, the old thing is perfect for the holes... I mean roads! We serve an awesome God! As far as the Radio Station is concerned... No new news!Still praying for the Licence and all the equipment needed. May the Father bless you with all His LOVE! Al
